Privacy notice

Merci Technologies, Inc. ("MerciIT", "we") operates merciit.com. This notice explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

1. Information we collect

• Information you give us: your name, email, phone, company and the details you enter in our contact, callback, hiring brief and portal walkthrough forms.
• Candidate information: résumés and career details you submit through our job board (jobs.merciit.com) or talent network, which are covered by the privacy notice shown there.
• Chats with Perly: the questions you type into Perly, our AI assistant, and its answers, together with the page you started on. Perly's replies are generated by Anthropic's Claude service, which processes the conversation on our behalf and does not use it to train its models. Perly asks for your first name so it can address you; your browser remembers it on your device until you choose "Forget my name", and it is saved with the conversation. Please don't share sensitive personal details in the chat.
• Technical information: IP address, browser, pages visited and the campaign or website that referred you. Analytics cookies are used only with your consent.

We do not knowingly collect government ID numbers, financial account details or health data through this website.

2. How we use it

To answer your enquiry, deliver and improve our staffing services, contact you about roles or hiring needs you asked about, keep the site secure, understand aggregate usage, and meet legal obligations. We do not make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about you.

3. How we share it

We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only with service providers who host and operate our website, email and systems on our behalf (including Anthropic, which powers Perly); with clients and hiring partners when you are a candidate and have agreed; and with authorities when the law requires it.

4. Cookies

• Strictly necessary (always on): a session cookie and a security token that make forms work, and a cookie that remembers your cookie choice for one year.
• Analytics (only with consent): Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*, up to two years) that tell us how the site is used in aggregate.

We do not use marketing or advertising cookies. Change your choice at any time with Cookie settings in the footer.

5. Legal basis (EEA and UK visitors)

Consent (analytics cookies), legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention and running our business), steps before a contract (your enquiry) and legal obligations.

6. International transfers

Information is stored and processed in the United States. Where required, we use safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. Retention

Enquiries are kept for up to 24 months after our last contact, Perly conversations for 180 days, cookie consent for 12 months, and analytics data for up to 24 months in aggregate form.

8. Security

We use HTTPS, access controls and monitoring to protect information. No internet transmission is completely secure, and we will notify affected people and authorities of a breach as the law requires.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may ask to access, correct, delete, restrict or port your information, object to processing, withdraw consent, or complain to a supervisory authority. Email privacy@merciit.com; we reply within 30 days.

10. California residents

You may ask what we collect, ask us to delete or correct it, and limit the use of sensitive information. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we will not discriminate against you for using your rights. We respond within 45 days, extendable once by 45 days.

11. Children

This site is not directed to children under 13, and we delete any such information we learn we have collected.

12. Changes

We will post any changes here with a new effective date.
